Sending Origins to the Trailers? (with Green Lantern Trailer)
The Green Lantern movie trailer has hit the net finally, a year and a half after we found out about Ryan Reynolds playing the emerald space cop and still over half a year until it comes out. I still hold onto my optimism on the generally comical Reynolds playing the traditionally tight-assed Hal Jordan, but the trailer isn’t helping. Neither is the suit where someone wants to show off their fancy CGI with.
But all that is beside my point. This trailer shows the movie to be just what it is – an origin story. Comic book fans and general movie goers alike have had to sit through origin after origin of their favorite heroes on the silver screen, waiting for the movie to get it out of the way so we could get to the meat of the story. It seems every time a new superhero property is adapted to film, its origin must be plainly told for an entire movie.
Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern? What About Deadpool?

So the big news out of the end of last week from Variety was Ryan Renolds being confirmed to play Hal Jordan in an upcoming Green Lantern movie. The GL movie, produced by Warner Bros. and directed by Martin Campbell, is supposed to start production in January.
I’m sure Reynolds will be fine as Hal. May be a bit lighter hearted than what we’re used to from the character, but I don’t think that’ll be an issue. The number one question this likely brings to mind to comic book movie fans is “What about the upcoming Deadpool movie from Fox?” Reynolds was already attached to reprise his Deadpool character. Does he taking on the GL movie mean him playing Deadpool is on hold or dead? Would Warner Bros., Fox or the world accept one actor playing main characters in a Marvel AND and DC movie?
